Travel info

01 · Consultation

Our consultation fee – fair and transparent

An individual trip that suits you perfectly is not created at the push of a button. For your personal travel proposal we research accommodation, routes and connections. We obtain offers from our partners on site, coordinate dates and put everything together into a well-thought-out package. This often takes many hours of work and draws on our experience from countless trips.

02 · Travel style

Group or individual?

Travel means discovering something new, meeting people and collecting impressions that stay with you. A common question is: would you rather travel in a group or on your own? Both have their appeal — and their own character.

03 · Cover

Travel insurance

Your holiday should be the best time of the year — but things do not always go to plan. A sudden illness, an accident, lost luggage or having to cut a trip short can quickly become expensive.

04 · Health

Travel health

Good health preparation is an important part of planning any trip. Please find out in good time about recommended or mandatory vaccinations for your destination. Which precautions make sense depends very much on the region, the type of trip and the length of your stay.

05 · Security

Insolvency protection

In Austria there is no Sicherungsschein of the kind used in Germany. We are nevertheless subject to the European package travel regulation in Austria as well. Under those EU package travel rules (Articles 17 and 19) there is a legal duty to take out insurance or to deposit a bank guarantee which, if the tour operator becomes insolvent, covers the traveller's loss of a deposit or the cost of returning from the holiday destination because of the insolvency.

06 · Equipment

Packing list for hiking trips

With the right equipment you are well prepared for every hike. This list is a general guide. You will find what is already provided on your trip and what you need in addition in the trip description and your travel documents.

07 · Equipment

Packing list for trekking trips

On a trek you are on the move for several days – often away from fixed accommodation and sometimes at high altitude. This list is a general guide. Depending on the trip, a tent, sleeping bag or sleeping mat may be provided. You will find exactly what is included in the trip description and your travel documents.

08 · Equipment

Packing list for kayak and canoe trips

On the water, different rules apply: everything should be packed waterproof, and your clothing needs to keep you warm even when wet. This list is a general guide. The boat, paddle and life jacket are usually provided, often also dry bags or camping equipment. You will find exactly what is included in the trip description and your travel documents.

09 · Getting there

Airport transfer and parking

If you book your flight through us, we can also take care of getting you to the airport on request. That way your trip starts relaxed before you even board the plane.

For an individually prepared travel proposal we therefore charge a consultation fee of €50 per offer. As soon as the fee has been paid, we start working on your proposal. If you like our offer and decide to book, we credit the €50 back to you. Have you travelled with us before? Then just get in touch – we will find an individual solution for our regular customers.

No fee for group and package tours

There are no consultation or booking fees for our advertised group and package tours. The only exception is if you would like additional individual work, for example different flight offers or different options for your outward and return journey. In that case the consultation fee applies as described above.

Good to know

Before we start working on your proposal, we will let you know whether a consultation fee applies to your request. That way you always know in advance where you stand. You can find all details in our terms and conditions.

02 · Travel style

Group or individual?

Travel means discovering something new, meeting people and collecting impressions that stay with you. A common question is: would you rather travel in a group or on your own? Both have their appeal — and their own character.

Group travel — advantages

  • Fully organised: arrival, accommodation, transfers and excursions are included.
  • Tour leadership and expertise: an experienced guide usually travels with you.
  • A sense of community: new contacts and shared experiences.
  • Safety and comfort: well looked after, including in unfamiliar cultures.
  • Better prices: group bookings often mean more favourable terms.

Group travel — drawbacks

  • A fixed timetable with little flexibility.
  • Group dynamics can call for compromise.
  • Less privacy on the trip.

Individual travel — advantages

  • Maximum freedom over destination, route and duration.
  • Your own pace: you set the rhythm and the breaks.
  • Personal experiences away from the usual tourist routes.
  • Flexibility: spontaneous changes are possible at any time.

Individual travel — drawbacks

  • The effort of planning accommodation, transport and the programme.
  • Higher cost without group rates.
  • More responsibility of your own if something goes wrong on the ground.

A special case: active travel

An active group trip can become a rich and unforgettable experience. It does ask for a certain amount of flexibility and willingness to compromise, because the abilities and pace of the participants differ. Sometimes that means leaving your comfort zone or adjusting expectations so the group can enjoy the tour together. In return you are rewarded with unique experiences, share intense moments with like-minded people and have the chance to make friendships that last.

An individually organised active trip gives you the freedom to choose the date and set the pace on the ground, to take breaks spontaneously and to react to the weather or your mood. Without a fixed group schedule you experience nature more intensely and enjoy the tour in your own rhythm. We plan the route for you and give you detailed documents that prepare you well for the adventure.

Our tip and service

There is no right or wrong — the choice depends on what you want. If you love company, security and the comfort of a guided tour, a group trip is the right choice. If you enjoy independence and want the trip shaped exactly to your wishes, individual travel suits you better.

The best part: we offer a large share of our trips both as a group journey and individually. Talk to us — together we will find the right way of travelling for you.

03 · Cover

Travel insurance

Your holiday should be the best time of the year — but things do not always go to plan. A sudden illness, an accident, lost luggage or having to cut a trip short can quickly become expensive.

That is why our tip is: do take out travel insurance. Then you are well covered if something unexpected happens — whether you have to cancel, need medical help abroad or your luggage does not arrive.

Worth knowing:

Insurance included with credit cards often offers only limited cover. It frequently applies only when the whole trip was paid with the card, or it does not include comprehensive medical care abroad. Benefits such as repatriation or luggage cover are often missing — or only included to a very limited extent.

A good travel insurance protects you, for example, in the case of:

  • Cancellation or cutting a trip short
  • Illness or an accident abroad
  • Loss or delay of your luggage
  • Flight delays or cancellations

04 · Health

Travel health

Good health preparation is an important part of planning any trip. Please find out in good time about recommended or mandatory vaccinations for your destination. Which precautions make sense depends very much on the region, the type of trip and the length of your stay.

Especially for trips to high-altitude regions, tropical countries or remote areas, additional vaccinations or health measures may be recommended. Malaria prophylaxis, sun protection, insect protection and the right travel first-aid kit also play an important role so that you can enjoy your trip without worries.

Travel first-aid kit

It is best to put together a small, individual travel first-aid kit – tailored to your destination and your personal needs. Alongside your personal medication, it can include remedies for fever, diarrhoea or insect bites.

Hygiene on the road

Pay close attention to good hygiene while travelling. In many countries it is advisable to drink only bottled water and to make sure that food is clean and fresh. Small precautions can go a long way towards avoiding health problems.

Get advice in good time

We recommend that you consult your GP or a specialist in travel medicine early on – ideally several weeks before departure. This leaves enough time for any necessary vaccinations, boosters and for preparing your travel first-aid kit.

The German Federal Foreign Office, the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs (BMEIA) and the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) provide information on, among other things:

  • recommended standard vaccinations
  • specific vaccination recommendations by country and season
  • advice for risk groups and older travellers
  • travel first-aid kits, altitude sickness and emergency preparedness
  • recommendations for travellers with chronic illnesses

As a tour operator we must be registered in the legally required operator register (GISA). That registration confirms that we have taken out insolvency cover as required by law. The ministry checks this insurance every year.

  • the necessary cost of repatriation and, if required, the cost of accommodation before repatriation that arose because of the insolvency of the tour operator or — where that party is responsible for the carriage of passengers — of the organiser of linked travel arrangements, and

  • where applicable, the necessary cost of continuing the package holiday or the linked travel arrangement that was arranged.
