Day 2
Murchison Falls National Park
Murchison River Lodge
approximately 7-8 hours
Your Uganda journey continues to one of the country's oldest and most impressive nature reserves – Murchison Falls National Park. Today's drive towards northern Uganda is long, but it offers fascinating insights into Ugandan life: you'll pass through diverse landscapes, lively street markets, and tranquil, rural villages. Along the way, you'll make a special stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. During a guided walk, you'll have the rare opportunity to observe these endangered rhinos up close in their natural habitat. At the same time, you'll learn more about the successful conservation and breeding program, as well as the crucial role played by local communities in species conservation. Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda's largest and most famous protected area. The Victoria Nile flows through the park, dividing it into two sections. The southern part contains the Rabongo Rainforest, while the western section is home to the spectacular Murchison Falls, where the Nile forces its way through a narrow rock fissure with tremendous power. Your accommodation also contributes significantly to the safari experience. You'll spend the night in comfortable safari tents surrounded by nature. In the evening, you'll fall asleep to the sounds of the African wilderness – perhaps the soft rustling in the bush or the characteristic, almost laughing grunts of the hippos, gently lulling you to sleep.

Day 3
Murchison Falls National Park
Murchison River Lodge
You'll rise early this morning and embark on a morning game drive with an experienced ranger. Since this is a private game drive, you can focus on your favorite animal. The national park is particularly renowned for its huge elephant population, a wide variety of birdlife, and large herds of buffalo. Giraffes, lions, antelopes, and waterbucks can also be spotted here, and if you scan the trees carefully, you might even be lucky enough to see a leopard. In the afternoon, you'll enjoy another boat safari. During this 3-hour trip upstream on the Victoria Nile to the base of the falls, you'll pass breathtaking scenery and encounter numerous crocodiles, hippos, buffalo, water birds, monkeys, and other animals. The animals migrate to the Nile to cool off from the heat. You can also purchase a refreshing drink on board your boat (optional). The boat will then take you to the starting point of your hike (1-1.5 hours) to the top of the falls. Be captivated by the stunning views from the summit. Optional activities: Birdwatching tour & Chimpanzees in Budongo Forest Add an extra day to your trip and go on a hike to see the chimpanzees in Budongo Forest. During your hike, you might also encounter other primates such as blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, and olive baboons. You can also get to know the 350 bird species of Royal Mile in Budongo Forest on a special ornithological tour. Please feel free to ask us for prices for both activities.

Chimpanzee tracking & visit to the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary
Turaco Treetops
Today, one of the major highlights of your Uganda holiday is on the agenda. No other animal reminds us of ourselves as much as the chimpanzee. Besides many shared characteristics, chimpanzees also share 98% of our human DNA, making them our closest living relatives. During a chimpanzee tracking tour in Kibale Forest, you have the opportunity to observe these fascinating animals up close with an experienced ranger. It's an incredible experience to watch the chimpanzees interact with each other and go about their daily routine of grooming, playing, and searching. After enjoying the company of the chimpanzees, you will be invited to learn about the region's traditional cuisine and how it is prepared. You will enjoy lunch with the local community (included in the price). In the afternoon, you can choose whether you'd like to spend more time with the locals and learn more about their daily lives on a community walk, or delve deeper into the forest with a hike through the swamp in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is home to eight primate species, over 200 bird species, butterflies, and various reptiles. For bird lovers, the highlight of the afternoon is spotting the beautiful great blue turaco. Both the time spent with the local community and the swamp walk are organized by a community-based organization. The proceeds from the walk will be used for community development projects such as schools and hospitals.
