Overview
On this tour with a maximum of twelve guests you look out at Kilimanjaro from a rainforest lodge and hike in Machame, home of the Chagga. Then you go on safari in Tarangire, at Lake Manyara, in the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, and finally relax on Zanzibar.
You don't have to climb Kilimanjaro. Relaxing in a mountain rainforest lodge and watching its snow-capped peak turn pink in the evening light is tiring enough. Besides, you'll need your nerves in the Serengeti and amidst Africa's highest density of predators in the Ngorongoro Crater. In the end, you'll be like the insatiable storks in Lake Manyara National Park: you just can't get enough. But what will you say when you're lying on the pleasantly warm sand in Zanzibar? Numerous safaris in a 4x4 vehicle await you, along with baobabs and elephants in Tarangire National Park and a flight over the Serengeti to Zanzibar. At the foot of Kilimanjaro, you'll learn all about coffee beans on a coffee tour, visit the Uduru School, and finally relax at the AQUA Beach Resort & Spa in Zanzibar. Tanzania is synonymous with safaris like few other countries. Look forward to, for example, a full day in Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds. Besides these pachyderms, you'll be able to observe many other animals, such as warthogs, buffalo, and waterbuck.

Goodbye Tanzania
Kaliwa Lodge
approx. 40 km
You'll be greeted with a cheerful "Jambo" by your tour guide at Kilimanjaro Airport. Then it's straight on to Kilimanjaro. But don't worry: you won't have to climb, you'll simply be settling into your accommodation within sight of the legendary mountain. You can use this afternoon to arrive at your leisure, take a walk, or go birdwatching. Dinner is included in the price. Kaliwa Lodge: Kaliwa Lodge welcomes you amidst the mountain rainforest, not far from Kilimanjaro National Park. The lodge's standard rooms, furnished in a Bauhaus style, are harmoniously integrated into the tropical garden. Small but perfectly formed, their minimalist decor creates an interesting contrast to the lush nature you can admire from the small terrace. Here, pomegranate trees grow alongside papayas and jasmine bushes. The highlight of the lodge is the wooden terrace: it offers a unique view of Kilimanjaro. But even if it's not visible, the view is breathtaking, and you can listen to the sounds of nature.

Day 3
From school attendance to the coffee plantation
Kaliwa Lodge
approx. 50 km
First, you'll head to Uduru Secondary School and immerse yourself in school life before continuing your journey. Your next destination is the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro. Between 1,000 and 2,000 meters above sea level, bananas and coffee are more than half the crops grown here. Arabica coffee thrives in this region. Many farmers have joined forces in the KNCU association and produce Fairtrade coffee. You'll take a closer look at this and gain further insights into the production process. You can ask more questions over lunch at the adjacent coffee farm. Refreshed, you'll travel to Moshi at midday. A stroll through the town and the market will immerse you in local life. With a fruit or two in your bag, you'll return to your accommodation. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the price. We cannot guarantee school attendance during holidays, weekends and exam periods. You will stay in the same accommodation as the previous day.

Day 4
Hike in Machame, home of the Chagga people
Kaliwa Lodge
After breakfast, today's hike takes you through the Chagga region. Compared to the Maasai, the Chagga people are less well-known, even though they are one of the largest ethnic groups in the country. They inhabit the slopes of Kilimanjaro, and today you'll explore their surroundings – along the irrigation canal to an idyllic waterfall. Water, sun, and tropical temperatures mean coffee and banana trees as far as the eye can see, and you'll be right in the middle of it all. A traditional lunch awaits you at Joan's home. Then it's back to your accommodation. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the price. Residents of Machame will prepare a traditional lunch for you. Today's hike is moderately difficult to challenging. As the ground can be damp and slippery, we recommend wearing sturdy footwear. You will stay in the same accommodation as the previous day.

Day 5
Drive through Maasailand towards Tarangire
Tarangire Lion Lodge
approx. 210 km
Today you're heading to Tarangire National Park. You'll quickly realize: this is Maasai country. They're out and about on both sides of the road, herding cattle to water. In the distance, you can just make out Maasai houses. If the market is open today, you'll encounter many Maasai there. In that case, you should ask your driver to stop so you can experience the hustle and bustle up close, do a little haggling, and buy some fruit. You'll reach your accommodation in the afternoon. Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner are included in the price. Tarangire Simba Lodge: The Tarangire Simba Lodge warmly welcomes you to the edge of Tarangire National Park, near Lake Burungi. From the spacious, thatched-roof tents with private verandas, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The waterhole next to the lodge often attracts zebras, giraffes, and even elephants, which, with a bit of luck, you can observe directly from your tent or the elevated wooden platform. On hot days, a swimming pool provides a refreshing respite.

Today, your first safari awaits you in Tarangire National Park – a full day of adventure. The park is famous for its impressive baobab trees and large herds of elephants. The Tarangire River flows year-round, attracting them. The chances of spotting some of these magnificent creatures are excellent. And it's not just elephants you'll encounter; warthogs, buffalo, waterbuck, and perhaps even lions might cross your path. Plant and bird enthusiasts will also be in their element before returning to your accommodation in the afternoon. Breakfast, a picnic lunch and dinner are included in the price. Day 7
Today's backdrop: Rift Valley & Lake Manyara
Ngorongoro Safari Lodge
approx. 180 km
Just as the Maasai once moved on day after day, so do we today. Every day we get a little closer to the Serengeti. But first, we're off to Lake Manyara National Park. Here, you'll be treated to the imposing backdrop of the towering walls of the Great Rift Valley. Giraffes, elephants, and hippos are particularly easy to spot here, as are various birds. You're also likely to see plenty of baboons. And with a bit of luck, you might even spot some lions, who like to climb trees here. Your guide will be happy to explain why they do that. In the afternoon, we'll travel to our accommodation. Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner are included in the price. Ngorongoro Safari Lodge: The Ngorongoro Safari Lodge is idyllically nestled in the crater landscape of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Thousands of wild animals and semi-nomadic Maasai with their herds of cattle roam its plains, savannas, and forests. Lodge guests stay in comfortable safari tents with en-suite bathrooms, and while you relax on your veranda, there's a good chance zebras or giraffes will be watching you. Enjoy the stunning views of the saltwater Lake Eyasi and end the day in the restaurant or around a campfire under the stars.

Day 8
The breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Safari Lodge
approx. 30 km
Today we'll set off early, as you should pass through the gate to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area first thing in the morning to experience the crater's atmosphere. Wisps of mist often cling to the crater rim, and it's still cool and damp. The animals love it. It's incredible how many animals can be seen in such a small area! The crater boasts the highest density of predators in Africa, with 25,000 mammals. Because the waterholes there never completely dry up, the animals often remain in the crater for their entire lives. The black rhinoceros also calls this place home. Don't let the wildlife distract you from the surrounding panorama; the crater walls offer breathtaking views. We'll return to our accommodation in the afternoon. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the price. You will stay in the same accommodation as the previous day.

Day 9
Today's finish flag: Serengeti National Park
Serengeti Safari Lodge
approx. 170 km
After breakfast, the journey continues to what is perhaps Africa's most famous wildlife area: the Serengeti. Endless savannas and vast herds of wild animals draw ever closer. Along the way, you'll have numerous opportunities for wildlife viewing. Then you arrive at the Serengeti National Park. You can enjoy your lunch at a scenic spot. Afterward, the safari continues. In the evening, you'll gaze up at the breathtaking starry sky. Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner are included in the price. Serengeti Safari Lodge: Nestled in the heart of the savannah, the Serengeti Safari Lodge sits atop a small hill offering breathtaking views. The bungalows, built with natural materials, are charmingly furnished with wooden furniture. From your private veranda, the beautifully designed outdoor shower, or even from your bed, you can gaze out over the unique landscape. The restaurant with its terrace, the lounge, and the bar will pamper you with local and international cuisine and drinks. And as soon as darkness falls, the magnificent starry sky of the Serengeti awaits.

Day 10
Endless expanse – Serengeti
Serengeti Safari Lodge
approx. 50 km
The Maasai call the Serengeti "endless land"—and rightly so, as you'll see today. You'll set off at sunrise, when the chances of spotting hyenas, jackals, and other animals are best. Around midday, when the animals retreat to the shade for their siesta, you'll return to your accommodation, where brunch will be waiting for you. In the afternoon, you'll embark on another excursion. Typical of this region are the kopjes, small rocky islands where lions like to sunbathe, so keep a close eye on them in case you get a little hungry. With a bit of luck, you might even see cheetahs or lions hunting their dinner. Breakfast consists of tea, coffee, and sandwiches. After the morning safari, brunch will be served at the camp. Dinner is also included in the tour price. You will stay in the same accommodation as the previous day.

Everything from above: Flight from the Serengeti to Zanzibar
Serengeti Safari Lodge
Today you'll take to the skies. Another spectacular sunrise awaits you in the Serengeti. After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to the animals at the waterhole, and then wave one last time from above. You'll take off from the grass airstrip in the heart of the Serengeti, gaining a completely new perspective on the experiences of the past few days. Your flight takes you over the Serengeti, the crater, and Mount Manyara to Zanzibar. On a clear day, you might even catch glimpses of Mount Meru and the majestic Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you'll head straight to your hotel, followed by an evening stroll through the narrow streets of the old town. You'll then join your guide for dinner at a local family's home, where you'll be treated to a traditional meal. Breakfast and dinner are included in the price. Today you'll receive an introduction to Zanzibar's cuisine, as a local family will be cooking for you. The driving distance in the Serengeti is approximately 30 km. Your local hosts live in very simple conditions by our standards. Food is traditionally served on the floor, and it's customary to eat with your fingers. Of course, cutlery will be provided upon request. Your visit contributes to improving the local living conditions, as it provides your hosts with additional income. Maru Maru Hotel The Maru Maru Hotel offers a particularly good dining experience overlooking the rooftops of Stone Town, where you can enjoy a sundowner while watching the sunset. The hotel is located in the heart of the city, which owes its name to the old buildings made of coral stone. Just a few meters from the hotel is the Old Fort, a 17th-century Ottoman stronghold. Today, it houses shops and a cultural center. The Maru Maru is decorated in typical Zanzibari style: white, turquoise, and dark wood evoke the colors of sand, sea, and rainforest – the perfect atmosphere for relaxation.
