East and North Coast of Jersey

  • Day 3
    St. Helier

    Exploration tour • Jersey Museum

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at your hotel before embarking on a guided half-day tour of St. Helier. Together with your tour guide and small group, you'll take the public bus, which stops right outside the hotel, for a comfortable ride to Jersey's capital city. There, a fascinating guided city tour awaits, revealing the rich and diverse history of St. Helier. Although the city is the island's center for trade and shopping, it retains its traditional French charm. Historic street names and old shop windows, still bearing the names of their founders, are characteristic of the cityscape. Highlights of the tour include the covered central market, the city church dedicated to the 6th-century hermit Hellerius, and the impressive bronze statues of prominent island figures in the former cattle market at the West Centre. Afterwards, you'll visit the Jersey Museum, which presents the island's history from the first settlers 250,000 years ago to the present day. In the diverse exhibits, you'll learn why Jersey remained loyal to the English crown despite its proximity to France, hear the local Jersey French language, and discover the importance of traditional agriculture. A particular highlight is the magnificently restored merchant's house, which, with its authentic gas lamps and furnishings, offers a glimpse into Victorian life. After visiting the museum, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of the many restaurants in St. Helier and spend the afternoon as you wish. Day trip to Guernsey

St. Peter Port • West Coast • Little Chapel

After an early breakfast, you can look forward to the approximately one-hour ferry crossing to the neighboring island of Guernsey. Your tour guide will lead you through the island's romantic little capital. St. Peter Port captivates visitors with its charm and Victorian granite houses. After the city tour, you'll travel along Guernsey's beautiful coastal road through the Val de Terre and past the former garrison Fort George. Your route will also take you to Sausmarez Manor, a magnificent estate with a vast park in St. Martin. Depending on the tides and ferry schedule, the Guernsey excursion may also take place on a different day of your trip. Subject to availability from the bus company, the island tour will take place in the morning and the town tour at midday. (F) (Distance: approx. 35 km; Travel time: approx. 2-3 hours)
