Notes on the trip

Travel time

The ideal time to travel to the Pacific Northwest is between mid-June and the end of September. During these months, the national park roads are fully open, and you can easily access the towering mountains of Mount Rainier, the Northern Cascades, and Crater Lake, as well as the rugged coasts of Oregon and Washington. In spring, the valleys are in bloom, while snow often lingers in the higher elevations, making some passes impassable. Autumn delights with colorful forests and crisp, clean air, although some roads and campgrounds may close in October. Winter is not suitable for this route, as many mountain roads are closed and heavy snowfall severely restricts access. Therefore, those wishing to experience the diverse landscape of beaches, volcanoes, and rainforests should choose the summer months for this road trip.
