Overview

On this MTB trip through Uzbekistan you ride mostly on gravel tracks from the Sayyod yurt camp through the Nuratau mountains and on into the Hissar range with Lake Fazilman. Along the way you experience remote villages, hospitality and the old town of Shahrisabz – with a support vehicle always on hand.

"Silk Road Adventure" – join us on a fascinating mountain bike tour through Uzbekistan. The idea for this trip originated during a tour along Lake Aydar Kul and through the Nurata Mountains. The impressions we gained then deeply impressed us and inspired us to create this extraordinary MTB journey. To make the adventure complete, we've also included the Hissar Mountains in the tour, in addition to the Nurata Mountains. This results in a diverse and authentic mountain bike trip with a sense of discovery. You'll ride along Uzbekistan's largest bodies of water, cross mountain ranges, discover ancient oasis towns, and climb Uzbekistan's highest peak. As always, it's an authentic journey, close to the land and its people, with plenty of fun and adventure!

    Stage 7. : Gelon – Shut

    Guesthouse / Tent

    42 km / 1,000 m ascent

This unique leg of our journey takes us today to the border region with Tajikistan and to the country's highest peaks. Until a few years ago, this region was virtually inaccessible and off-limits. Tourists rarely venture here. Only the access to Hazrat Sulton (4,643 m), Uzbekistan's highest mountain, draws a few mountaineers. This morning, we'll tackle the pass to Kul. The steep climb is well worth it for the spectacular descent and breathtaking views. We'll then drive the final kilometers through a narrow gorge to the remote mountain village of Shut. Here, we'll be staying in the private home of the village teacher, Hakim. This afternoon, we'll have time to experience life in one of Uzbekistan's most remote villages. Note: The guesthouse is very small and only has two bedrooms. It is possible to stay in a tent in Hakim's lovely garden. Sleeping arrangements will be decided on-site by arrangement.

Program adjustments depending on weather conditions

The safety of our participants is our top priority on our active tours. Since we often travel in alpine or remote regions, weather conditions such as strong winds, fog, persistent rain or snowfall, as well as other unforeseen circumstances, can affect the execution of the planned route. In such cases, our experienced local guide will react flexibly and adjust the route or program accordingly to ensure the safety of everyone involved. These decisions are always made in the best interests of all participants, so that the tour remains safe and as enjoyable as possible. Any claims for compensation are excluded in such cases.
