Overview
You travel without a permanent guide but with a clearly structured itinerary and pre-booked accommodation, tours and excursions. From Tokyo you head into the Japanese Alps to Matsumoto, to an onsen in Kiso-Fukushima and onto the historic Nakasendo Trail, then on to Takayama and Kyoto.
This trip is ideal for anyone who wants to experience Japan intensively and in a personalized way. You'll travel without a constant tour guide, but with a clearly structured itinerary and carefully pre-booked accommodations, city tours, transfers, and excursions. This leaves you plenty of time for your own discoveries – while you can rely on well-planned organization behind the scenes. This tour focuses on Japan's striking contrasts: from the vibrant streets of Tokyo and historical trails like the Nakasendo to tranquil mountain villages, hot springs, and Zen temples in Kyoto. You'll travel across the country by train – efficiently, sustainably, and in true Japanese style. This journey combines cultural depth, scenic diversity and the freedom to explore Japan at your own pace – accompanied by optional activities, personal recommendations and reliable support should you need it.
