Overview
Following the gold seekers, you travel with a German-speaking guide via Carcross and the world’s smallest desert to Skagway, by ferry through the Inside Passage to Haines and along the Haines Road into Kluane National Park – compact, varied and staying in hotels.
In just eight days, this tour will take you through the most beautiful landscapes of the southern Yukon and the Alaska Panhandle – compact, varied and with a German-speaking tour guide. Following in the footsteps of the 1898 gold rush prospectors, you'll travel via Carcross, past the world's smallest desert and the emerald-green Emerald Lake, to Skagway. A ferry will then take you through the Inside Passage to Haines, where mountains and glaciers rise directly from the sea. From here, you can take a boat trip to Alaska's capital, Juneau. You'll return to Canada via the spectacular Haines Road and into Kluane National Park, home to the largest non-polar icefield on Earth – a scenic flight over the glaciers is an unforgettable bonus. Finally, you'll learn more about the lives of the Indigenous people of the far north at a First Nations camp.
