Overview

This camping tour links the Rocky Mountain national parks with the far north: hikes in Banff, Yoho and Jasper, then the Dempster Highway, the Tombstone Mountains, Dawson City, the Top of the World Highway to Alaska and Kluane National Park. 17 nights in a tent, good fitness required.

On this 22-day camping tour from Calgary to Whitehorse, you will experience the most impressive landscapes of western and northern Canada up close: the majestic Banff and Jasper National Parks in the Rocky Mountains, the endless Dempster Highway with its vast tundra, the Tombstone Mountains with their distinctive peaks, the legendary Top of the World Highway, and finally Kluane National Park with its vast ice fields, as well as the coastal mountains with thundering waterfalls and ancient giant trees. But you don't just perceive these extraordinary places from the vehicle window – you experience them firsthand while camping under the stars and hiking through untouched nature. This adventure is complemented by fascinating insights into the history of the pioneers and gold prospectors from barely 130 years ago, as well as the millennia-old traditions of the coastal natives. You'll also repeatedly encounter the captivating wildlife that inhabits these vast, protected nature reserves.
