Driving all the way to the Arctic Ocean: This road trip on the legendary Dempster Highway is a dream for anyone seeking the end of the road. In one week, you'll travel from Whitehorse to Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic coast. First, you'll visit the gold rush town of Dawson City, where saloons, dance halls, and wooden sidewalks keep the Klondike era alive. You'll pan for gold yourself, visit Jack London's cabin, and experience the cancan show at Diamond Tooth Gertie's in the evening. Then the real adventure begins: You'll travel through the rugged Tombstone Mountains, across the Arctic Circle and the Richardson Mountains, through endless tundra to Inuvik. On an excursion to Tuktoyaktuk, you'll learn about the Inuvialuit culture, spot pingos, and stand on the shores of the Arctic Ocean. The return trip to Whitehorse is a comfortable flight.
