Overview

You fly to Inuvik, discover Inuvialuit culture and the pingos on the Arctic Ocean in Tuktoyaktuk, then drive the gravel Dempster Highway through the tundra and Tombstone Mountains to Dawson City and back to Whitehorse.

From the Arctic Ocean to the gold rush town: On this road trip you first fly high into the Arctic and then drive back to the south of the Yukon on the legendary Dempster Highway. Your adventure begins in Inuvik, the heart of the Western Arctic. A day trip takes you to Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Ocean, where you'll learn about the Inuvialuit culture and discover the mysterious pingos. Then it's on to Dawson City via a gravel road through vast tundra, across the Arctic Circle and over the rugged Tombstone Mountains. Here you'll try your hand at gold panning, visit the Jack London Cabin, and experience the can-can show at Diamond Tooth Gertie's. Finally, you'll return to Whitehorse along the Yukon River – with the feeling of having truly been to the end of the world.
