Day 2
Whitehorse – Haines Junction

After breakfast, you'll get an overview of the Yukon's capital city. This might include a visit to the restored paddle steamer SS Klondike, docked directly on the Yukon River. Then the grand tour begins with the first short drive west along the Alaska Highway. Even on this stretch, scenic highlights invite you to stop along the way before you reach Haines Junction – located at the foot of Kluane National Park – in the early afternoon. Kluane National Park is not only Canada's largest national park, but it also boasts a diverse array of wildlife and the largest contiguous glacier area on Earth outside the polar regions. To this day, this vast national park remains largely untouched and pristine. Depending on the weather and the group's interests, a guided hike into the national park can be undertaken. Another possible attraction is a flight in a legendary bush plane over the park's impressive glaciers, or even a helicopter flight deep into this completely uninhabited area (optional).
