You'll travel on remote roads, sleep in a tent, and enjoy home-cooked meals around a campfire amidst breathtaking scenery. The journey begins in Seward on the Kenai Fjords and continues to Denali National Park, where grizzly bears, caribou, and North America's highest mountain await. The Top of the World Highway then leads to Dawson City, the legendary gold rush town, and on to the bizarre Tombstone Mountains for hiking. Seward
Tent
This morning, we'll be hiking in the immediate vicinity of Seward. There are so many great options here, as this coastal area is incredibly beautiful! Perhaps we'll even choose another hike for the afternoon, or you can experience one of the main attractions of Kenai Fjords National Park: an optional six-hour boat trip through the fjords for marine wildlife viewing. The area teems with seals, sea lions, sea otters, as well as orcas and humpback whales. With a bit of luck, you might also spot moose and black bears roaming along the coastline. Another highlight is watching the calving ice from Bear Glacier plunge into the ocean, creating massive waves.

Day 13
Haines Junction – Haines – Skagway
Tent
It's time to say goodbye to Kluane Park and continue south to the beautiful coastal town of Haines, Alaska. Our route was once one of the few overland routes to the Klondike and an ancient trade route for the Tlingit coastal peoples. At Dalton Cache, we'll cross the international border once again. This drive promises to be another incredibly scenic experience! After a short stay in Haines, we'll take the ferry to Skagway. This will take us through Lynn Canal, where, with a bit of luck, we might spot seals, whales, and bald eagles. Skagway became known as the gateway to the Klondike during the famous Klondike Gold Rush of 1898, and its historic character has been carefully preserved ever since. It's good that there's still some time to explore the town or take a short hike before we set up camp for the last time.
