Overview

In a small group of no more than nine you ride the historic White Pass railway, reach Ruby Range Lodge on Kluane Lake by boat, cross the Arctic Circle on the Dempster Highway to Inuvik and travel via Dawson City, Fairbanks and Denali to Anchorage.

Jack London described it – the call of the wild. On this extraordinary small group tour with a maximum of nine participants, you'll experience it firsthand: 19 days from Whitehorse to Anchorage, off the beaten track. Take the historic White Pass Railway and follow in the footsteps of the gold rush pioneers. A boat will take you to the Ruby Range Lodge on Kluane Lake, where you can enjoy the charm of log cabins and a campfire. Cross the Arctic Circle on the legendary Dempster Highway to Inuvik, from where you can optionally visit the Inuit village of Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Ocean. A flight over the tundra takes you to Dawson City for gold panning, casino visits, and cancan dancing. The journey continues along the Top of the World Highway to Alaska, via Fairbanks to Denali National Park, and finally to Anchorage – a trip you'll remember for a long time.

Culture / nature

Nature-led

This small group tour requires no special athletic abilities – a basic level of fitness is sufficient for short hikes, walks, and boat trips. Sure-footedness is advantageous for the optional hikes in Kluane National Park. Expect long days of driving on lonely, often unpaved gravel roads like the Dempster and the Top of the World Highway. Progress is slower and bumpier, but all the more rewarding. Accommodation is in hotels and for three nights in the rustic Ruby Range Lodge, which is only accessible by boat – with cabins, an outdoor toilet, and a basic shower block. With a maximum of nine participants, the group is small, so flexibility and a sense of community are essential.
