Culture / nature

Nature-led

For this varied week of hiking between the Wilder Kaiser and the Kitzbühel Alps, participants should have a good level of fitness and enjoy being active in nature. The total distance covered is approximately 65 to 75 kilometers, with individual stages ranging from about 11 to 15 kilometers. Daily elevation gains range from 300 to a maximum of 650 meters, with a total ascent of approximately 2,800 to 3,500 meters. Thanks to the well-developed network of trails in the region, individual sections can be conveniently shortened using cable cars – by prior arrangement.

Most days involve hiking times between four and five and a half hours, pure hiking time without breaks. The trails are generally well-maintained, but some sections are rocky or uneven, as is typical in alpine terrain. Longer ascents and descents of up to an hour are possible, and flat sections may be less frequent. Hiking at altitudes up to approximately 2,000 meters should not be a new experience for participants.

Overall, this tour is classified as moderately difficult. It requires sure-footedness and stamina, but no alpine experience or climbing sections. Anyone who enjoys hiking, clear mountain air, and varied scenery will find the perfect blend of exercise, nature, and relaxation here.

Notes on the trip

Additional nights before and after the hiking week

Upon request, we also offer additional overnight stays in our partner hotels before or after the hiking week (subject to availability). We recommend extending your stay in Kufstein or St. Johann to explore the surrounding countryside.

Program adjustments depending on weather conditions

The safety of our participants is our top priority on our active tours. Since we often travel in alpine or remote regions, weather conditions such as strong winds, fog, persistent rain or snowfall, as well as other unforeseen circumstances, can affect the execution of the planned route. In such cases, our experienced local guide will react flexibly and adjust the route or program accordingly to ensure the safety of everyone involved. These decisions are always made in the best interests of all participants, so that the tour remains safe and as enjoyable as possible. Any claims for compensation are excluded in such cases.

Travel flexibly with the guest card & summer card

Thanks to the guest card and the Kitzbühel Alps Summer Card, you'll enjoy complete flexibility during this hiking week. Both cards allow free use of public buses and regional trains, as well as convenient access to the modern mountain lifts – ideal for customizing individual stages or taking spontaneous detours into the surrounding mountains.
