If you ever want to ask yourself, "What could possibly top this?", then take this trip. The Mekong Delta does absolutely nothing to calm your nerves, and if you're hoping for the wonders of Banteay Srei, Bayon, Angkor Thom, and Angkor Wat, you're so incredibly disappointed. Unbelievable. Awaiting you are a city tour of Hanoi, a three-day junk boat trip in Halong Bay, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hoi An with its lanterns. In Saigon, you'll take a Vespa tour, explore the Mekong Delta, and finally, spend three days at the temples of Angkor. Explore the unique waterways of the Mekong Delta by boat and bicycle. The fertile soil produces a wide variety of delicious fruits that you can sample along the way. You'll also learn how rice paper and coconut sweets are made in small workshops.

Day 2
Hanoi – welcome to the capital
The Siesta Classic
approx. 30 km
Upon landing in Hanoi, your tour guide will be eagerly awaiting you. After a delicious breakfast, you'll plunge into the morning bustle of the capital. Your personal motorbike driver will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby. Following a brief introduction, you'll explore the metropolis and gather your first impressions. Just imagine, this city alone is home to around seven million people! Among other sights, you'll see the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda, and the Temple of Literature. You'll also venture off the beaten tourist track. Discover the stories behind the scenes and in the narrow alleyways, visit local markets, and savor a Vietnamese coffee. Why not try the famous egg coffee? The recipe is a closely guarded secret; it tastes a bit like liquid tiramisu. Afterward, you'll have earned a well-deserved break. Later, you'll experience an amazing puppet show, unique to Vietnam: water puppetry. The puppeteers are in the water and have their puppets perform scenes from rural life as well as mystical dances. The performance is accompanied by a small orchestra, including the Dan Bau, a one-stringed box zither. Included meals are breakfast, a light lunch during the city tour, and a typical Vietnamese dinner in a cozy restaurant. You can check into your hotel room in Hanoi around 2 pm. An earlier check-in is not possible. However, you can freshen up and change your clothes at the hotel after breakfast. The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed on Mondays, so if the first day of your trip falls on that day, you will only be able to see it from the outside. La Siesta Classic: Located in Hanoi's Old Quarter, the La Siesta Classic Hotel is just a stone's throw from the "Lake of the Returned Sword." The rooms are modern and furnished with great attention to detail, and the service team is friendly and has a few insider tips to share. On weekends, the street in front of the hotel is closed to traffic and transforms into a charming pedestrian zone with market stalls and handicrafts, making strolling through this vibrant neighborhood even more enjoyable.

Day 3
From Hanoi to the Bay of the Submerging Dragon
Junk Treasure
approx. 170 km
You'll continue your journey to Halong City, where you'll board a junk around noon. The highlight of the day will be a dragon boat cruise through the famous Halong Bay, renowned for its unique beauty and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Legend has it that the countless islands and limestone karsts, some rising hundreds of meters from the water, were created by a giant dragon. While defending the land, the dragon carved deep furrows into the seabed with its tail, which later filled with water when it dove into the ocean. This explains the bay's name – Halong means "diving dragon." In the evening, the boat will anchor in one of the bays. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery and relax on the sun deck. Perhaps the captain will join you at your table and share his experiences in Halong Bay. The meals included today are breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Junk Treasure: Cruising through Halong Bay on the Junk Treasure is a sublime experience. The hull gleams white against the water as the ship glides past the serene pinnacles. The Treasure is modeled after the traditional junk design and offers every comfort: You'll spend the night on board in comfortable twin cabins, each with its own shower and toilet. On the sun deck, deck chairs await, perfect for relaxing, whether enjoying a morning coffee or a sundowner in the evening.

Temples of Angkor
Montra Nivesha
approx. 160 km
In the morning, you'll first visit the former monastery of Ta Prohm, with its walls riddled with the roots of giant fig trees. Next, you'll see the colossal pyramid of Takeo, one of the tallest temples in the Angkor region. Your next stop is the Buddhist temple complex of Preah Khan. The two-story pillared hall is unique in Angkor, and the temple's diverse reliefs also make it special. Back in Siem Reap, you'll enjoy a delicious lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, you'll travel through the traditional village of Preah Dak to Banteay Srei. This delicate pink temple, with its opulent decorations and intricate reliefs, is considered one of the finest Khmer works. The elaborate stonework and details are considered too delicate for a man's hands to work on, hence its nickname, "Women's Citadel." Following this, you'll visit the 12th-century temple of Banteay Samre, which, like Angkor Wat, was built by King Suryavarman II and has undergone extensive restoration. Enjoy the early evening at the Pre Rup pyramid temple, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, which offers a stunning view of the surrounding rice paddies. Relax a bit at the hotel before experiencing a modern Khmer circus performance in the evening – look forward to acrobats, jugglers, clowns, and live music. Breakfast and dinner are included in the price. You will stay in the same accommodation as the previous day.

Day 12
Temples of Angkor and Tonle Sap
Montra Nivesha
approx. 90 km
Today, your mode of transport is the bicycle. You'll explore Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Angkor Empire. From the South Gate, you'll cycle to the two terraces – the Terrace of the Leper King and the Terrace of the Elephants. At the southern end of the complex lies the Baphuon, the monumental temple mountain built in honor of the Hindu god Shiva. Its tower rises about 30 meters above the surrounding area, offering a fantastic view. Right in the center of Angkor Thom is the Bayon Temple. The temple's most striking architectural feature is its 54 towers, each topped with a face carved from stone several meters high. Your destination for the afternoon is the Tonle Sap. A unique natural phenomenon occurs here every June. Due to meltwater from the Himalayas and monsoon rains, the Tonle Sap River reverses its flow and fills with water under immense pressure. The people here have adapted their way of life to the extremely fluctuating water levels. They live in houseboats, their houses floating on bamboo platforms or built on stilts. You'll visit the floating village of Kampong Phluk, home to nearly 4,000 people, primarily Khmer fishermen. During the dry season, the stilts of the houses rise six to seven meters out of the water, while in the rainy season, the water can reach the doorsteps. Therefore, during the rainy season, you'll travel by boat through the canals, and during the dry season, you'll stroll through the streets of this impressive village. On your way back to Siem Reap, you'll stop at the impressive Bakong Temple, built in the 9th century by the rulers of the Khmer Empire. You'll be invited to dinner with members of the Chreav community. This is a great opportunity to learn about life in this traditional community, whose members earn their living through fishing and agriculture, and to enjoy traditional Khmer cuisine prepared by the people of the village themselves. Breakfast, lunch and dinner with a Cambodian family in the village of Chreav are included in the price. If cycling is too strenuous for you, you can decide in advance whether you would prefer to take the bus. You will stay in the same accommodation as the previous day.
