Day 1
Welcome to South Africa!
Zululand Lodge
Arrival in Johannesburg – onward journey to Zululand Your adventure through Southern Africa begins early in the morning. You leave Johannesburg and head towards KwaZulu-Natal. The landscape changes noticeably along the way: the vast plains of the Highveld gradually give way to green hills, bushland, and subtropical vegetation. The Zululand region is still considered the cultural heart of the Zulu, the largest ethnic group in South Africa. The Zulu are known for their rich history, their traditions, their language, and their close connection to this region. The area became particularly famous through King Shaka Zulu, who shaped and unified the Zulu kingdom at the beginning of the 19th century. Your accommodation for the next few nights is located in a private nature reserve in the heart of the bush. After arrival, you'll have time to settle in and relax before heading out on your first game drive in the afternoon. With a bit of luck, you might even spot some of the first animals in the warm evening light. The quiet hours just before sunset are often among the most beautiful moments of a safari. Travel time: approx. 7–8 hours A notice: For a pleasant start to your trip, we recommend booking an overnight stay in Johannesburg. Supplement: €31 per person in a double room, €60 per person in a single room.

This method of fishing has been practiced in the region for generations and is deeply intertwined with the local culture. Afterwards, there will be time to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the coastal region.

During the boat trips, you'll have the opportunity to observe dolphins and, depending on the season, even whales from the boat. There will also be time for snorkeling at the nearby coral reefs with their colorful underwater world. With a bit of luck, and if conditions permit, you might even have the rare opportunity to swim alongside wild dolphins in the open ocean. Besides the activities, there is plenty of time to enjoy Mozambique's relaxed atmosphere, walk barefoot through the sand, or simply gaze at the Indian Ocean. (If a boat trip is not possible due to weather conditions, you will receive a pro-rata refund of the activity costs paid on site.)
