Overview

On this tour with a maximum of twelve guests you experience Cape Town and the Cape of Good Hope, the vineyards of Stellenbosch, Oudtshoorn with an ostrich farm and meerkat safari, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Tsitsikamma National Park – and finally elephants in Addo and the Big Five.

In Cape Town there's not much sign of the Garden Route yet. Here the Atlantic rages around the Cape of Good Hope, and the landscape is even more dramatic than an evening at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Peace of mind, on the other hand, in the vineyards of Stellenbosch, in Oudtshoorn, home of the ostrich, at the blue lagoon of Knysna, on the fine-sand four-poster beds of Plettenberg Bay and in the most beautiful national park on the Garden Route, Tsitsikamma. In reserve: 650 elephants in Addo and the Big Five in the Kariega Game Reserve. Look forward to the fascinating metropolis of Cape Town, a cooking class in the Cape Malay quarter, a wine tasting in Barrydale and a township tour in Qolweni. On five safaris in an open 4x4 you get really close to the animals, before ending the trip by being pampered in the exclusive Kariega Game Reserve. In the 12,000-hectare Kariega Game Reserve, a particularly intense safari experience awaits you at the end of the trip. You watch the Big Five and 20 other large mammal species from the jeep and on a bush walk. On a boat trip on the Kariega River you can spot goliath herons, sandpipers and kingfishers.

  • Day 2
    Atemberaubendes Kapstadt

    The Three Boutique Hotel

    approx. 60 km

After landing in South Africa's Mother City, your tour guide is eagerly waiting to welcome you on arrival at Cape Town airport. Freshen up briefly at your accommodation. On a first discovery tour you see, among other things, the City Hall and stroll through the Company's Garden. Weather permitting, today you take the cable car up Table Mountain. From over 1,000 metres you have a magnificent view of the city, Robben Island and countless beaches. And from Signal Hill you have a wonderful view of the city, the Atlantic and Table Mountain. The annual maintenance work on the Table Mountain cable car usually takes place from mid-July to mid-August, so the excursion up Table Mountain is not possible during this period. Instead, you go up neighbouring Signal Hill, from where you have a fantastic view over Cape Town and of Table Mountain. The maintenance work may be postponed by a few days due to the weather. The Three Boutique Hotel: at the historic The Three Boutique Hotel at the foot of majestic Table Mountain in the Oranjezicht district, your host Desiree and her team take warm care of you. The 18 spacious rooms are modernly furnished, and the small but fine swimming pool offers refreshment. The hotel's name plays on the threefold view from the roof terrace of Table Mountain, Lion's Head and Devil's Peak. Don't miss the sunset over Cape Town's Atlantic coast from up here.

  • Day 7
From Oudtshoorn to the Garden Route and on to Plettenberg Bay

    Christiana Lodge

    approx. 190 km

Over the mountain landscape of the Outeniqua Pass you reach the Garden Route, one of South Africa's most beautiful stretches of coast. It extends from Mossel Bay to the mouth of the Storms River in Tsitsikamma National Park. Wilderness is an idyllic village on the edge of the Garden Route National Park, its houses nestled against lush green hills in the hinterland. On a hike of about three hours, you follow the shady trail along the Touw River. A true bird paradise awaits you – look out for the Knysna turaco, which shows its bright red flight feathers particularly impressively in flight. You are rewarded for your efforts in the cool water of the rock pool. Along the Garden Route you reach the picturesque coastal town of Knysna, sheltered behind high sandstone cliffs on a large lagoon. Stroll along the waterfront with its little shops. Then it's on to the Eastern Head, a viewpoint with a panoramic view of the lagoon and its mouth into the Indian Ocean. Breakfast is included. For the hike in Wilderness we recommend sturdy shoes, a hat, sunscreen and enough water. The path is mostly shady and in good condition, with some stairs and steps. Christiana Lodge: the Christiana Lodge in a quiet district of Plettenberg Bay is run by Christa Joubert with great attention and enthusiasm. The sound and scent of the sea come as standard, as the beach is just a few minutes' walk away. You stay in bright, friendly rooms, some with a balcony. Open spaces, warm-hearted staff and a lovely pool in the garden make it easy to really relax. And if you like, you can enjoy breakfast with the best views of the wetlands of the Robberg Nature Reserve and the ocean.
