Itinerary

  • Day 1
Kiruna - Moskojärvi / Introductory Dog Sled Tour

    Granja the huskies

Your journey begins with your arrival in Kiruna. You'll be picked up at the airport and driven for approximately one hour through the stunning mountain scenery of northern Sweden to Moskojärvi. Even during the drive, you'll be immersed in the vastness and silence of the north, the perfect prelude to the adventure that awaits. From the parking lot, you'll travel another three kilometers by snowmobile, venturing deeper into the snowy wilderness, until you reach the remote husky farm. There, these four-legged friends will greet you with enthusiastic, loud, and joyful barks. While enjoying a steaming cup of freshly brewed coffee, cooked over an open fire, you'll meet the other participants and your guide. In a relaxed atmosphere, you'll receive all the important information about the excursion, have the opportunity to ask questions, and mentally prepare for the days ahead. Afterward, you'll be equipped with the necessary gear and have time to get to know the friendly huskies better. In a brief and practical introduction, the guide will show you how to properly harness the dogs, how to walk on the tow rope, and how to safely steer the sled. Once all the dogs are ready and the group is prepared, your first outing together will begin. This practice session will familiarize you with mushing, the sled, and interacting with your team: an unforgettable first experience with this unique mode of transport. Back at the farm, dinner is cooked over an open fire and served in the cozy cabin with a barbecue. You'll spend the rest of the day in good company with your guide and the huskies as the Arctic night falls. Then, your first night in this silent and shimmering winter wonderland awaits.

  • Day 2
Dog sled excursion through the winter quarters of the moose.

    cabin

Approximate distance of 40 to 50 km

The day begins with a hearty breakfast at our Husky Lodge, just what you need to fuel up for the adventure ahead. Afterward, you can watch the guides as they go about their morning tasks in the husky enclosure, or even lend a hand and immerse yourself further in the daily life of the dogs. Then the sleds are loaded: provisions, equipment, and plenty of enthusiasm are arranged before venturing into the vastness of the wilderness. Today, 40 to 50 kilometers of pure Arctic magic await them. They will glide with their gear through dense snow-covered forests, crossing frozen marshes and frozen rivers and lakes until they reach the breathtaking Alajärvi Nature Reserve. This region serves as a winter grazing area for moose; with a bit of luck, the "king of the forest" might cross their path, perhaps accompanied by other wild animals. Upon arrival, the huskies are the priority: they are cared for before everyone sets up camp. As night falls, they gather around the crackling campfire, where a warm dinner brings the day to a close. They spend the night in simple, rustic cabins in the heart of nature, wrapped in warm winter sleeping bags, surrounded by silence, starry skies, and the magic of the Arctic.

    Granja the huskies

Approximate distance of 40 to 50 km

As always, our huskies are our priority. We care for them, feed them, and pamper them with lots of love; only when all our four-legged friends are satisfied do we eat breakfast. After recovering, we break camp and prepare everything for the next stage of our journey. Then it's time to climb back on the sleds and venture into the wilderness. Today, another 40 or 50 kilometers await them through the fascinating snowy landscape of the north, accompanied by the steady rhythm of the dogs and the silent immensity of the Arctic. After an intense day outdoors, a very special moment awaits: a relaxing sauna invites you to unwind. The comforting warmth soothes tired muscles as you reflect on the day's experiences; the perfect ending to another unforgettable adventure in the far north.

    Notes on the trip

    Arrival and departure

Please arrive at approximately 11:00 AM. The transfer will take place in the morning or at midday. Flights can be accessed from approximately 2:00 PM on the day of departure. As an alternative to flying to Kiruna, you can also travel by train from Stockholm to Kiruna or Gällivare.

    Accommodation

At the husky farm, you'll stay in comfortably furnished shared rooms (3 to 5 beds per room). There are shared bathrooms. At Camp Two Rivers, you'll stay in simple cabins (shared rooms; sleeping bag required). The main building has a common room with a fireplace. Otherwise, the camp has no electricity or running water.

    Granja the huskies

Far from the hustle and bustle of civilization, this special farm welcomes you to the far north of Sweden. At this family-run dog sledding camp, you'll find peace, wide open spaces, and unspoiled nature—a place to take a deep breath and completely disconnect. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty and vibrant colors of the land of the midnight sun, you'll enjoy an idyllic holiday, secluded yet full of life. The small, cozy lodge is located in the heart of the Swedish wilderness, about 150 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, between Kiruna and Gällivare. There's no road directly to the camp; in winter, you'll cover the last three kilometers in style by snowmobile. Upon arrival, the huskies will greet you with their energy and friendliness and will be your companions throughout your stay.

    Your host

Your host, Mats, is a passionate and successful musher. With his extensive experience and dedication, he'll offer you an authentic glimpse into daily life on a husky farm and share his enthusiasm for working with these dogs. Along with over 90 huskies, you'll explore the diverse and fascinating natural landscape of northern Sweden surrounding the camp on dog sled excursions.

    Life in the hostel

At this family-run hostel, you'll enjoy relaxing days in a peaceful setting. Nestled on a small hill, it offers comfortable shared rooms (two triple rooms and one five-bed room), as well as two shared bathrooms with showers and toilets. The spacious common room, complete with a fireplace, stereo, and a cozy loft stocked with books, invites you to read, unwind, and relax. For those seeking an even more immersive experience, you can also spend the night under the stars near the hostel, snuggled up in a sleeping bag on a reindeer hide, directly beneath the Nordic sky. At any time of year, the traditional wood-fired sauna offers comforting relaxation, followed by a refreshing dip in the hostel's private lake. Culinary delights await, with predominantly regional specialties: reindeer or elk meat, along with aromatic herbs and local berries, transform each meal into an authentic taste of the North.

The program is subject to change.

Since outdoor excursions depend on weather conditions, we reserve the right to modify the daily program.
