Day 3
Narvik – Lofoten
Hotel on the Lofoten Islands
approx. 270 km
Today you leave the E6 and drive onto the Vesterålen archipelago. Vesterålen is a region and part of an archipelago about 300 km north of the Arctic Circle off the coast of Norway. It borders the better-known Lofoten region to the north-east. The region offers a very varied landscape: rugged mountain formations rise straight out of the sea, while lonely white sandy beaches evoke southern countries. There are fjords, skerries, rivers and lakes, moors, remote mountain valleys and small plateaus. At 1,262 m, the highest mountain in the region is Møysalen on the island of Hinnøya. From the main town of Svolvær you visit two of the most beautiful and rustic fishing villages in the Lofoten: Henningsvær is known as the "Venice of the North" and in winter is one of the world's centres of cod fishing. Neighbouring Kabelvåg was for centuries the unofficial capital of the island chain and impresses, among other things, with the Lofoten Cathedral, the largest wooden church north of Trondheim. Return to Svolvær/Stamsund.

Day 4
Lofoten
Hotel on the Lofoten Islands
approx. 220 km.
The south of the archipelago is your destination. At Ramberg beach you experience a Caribbean flair, because even in bad weather the water shines a bright turquoise. Another highlight is certainly the small village of Reine, an idyllic and picturesque fishing village on Moskenesøy. Its setting beneath the steep Reinebringen mountain and on the Kirkefjord is simply breathtaking. In Å, the southernmost village in the Lofoten, you visit the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum, one of the best-preserved and most complete old fishing villages in Northern Norway. Discover the authentic 19th-century buildings: boathouse, cod liver oil factory, cabin, forge, post office, fisherman's cabin and bakery. You get to know the hard and picturesque life in a fishing village during the Lofoten fishing season and throughout the year. You are guided through the everyday lives of the travelling fishermen, the local families and the landlord who ruled the fishing village from around 1840 to 1960. Then return to Svolvær.
