Overview

Among women you paddle down the legendary Yukon River – no experience needed, you learn the technique on the first day. Along the way you find traces of the Gold Rush, the abandoned Fort Selkirk and nights in a tent on sandbars and islands, ending in Dawson City.

Experience paddling down the legendary Yukon River with just women – this tour offers you that opportunity, accompanied by an experienced female guide. No prior canoeing experience is necessary; you'll learn everything you need to know right from the start. From Minto, the mighty river carries you some 325 kilometers north. Along the way, you'll repeatedly encounter traces of the gold rush, explore the abandoned Selkirk Fort, and pitch your tent on sandbanks and islands. In the evenings, around the campfire, your guide will tell stories from the time of the trappers and gold seekers. The grand finale is your arrival in Dawson City, where you'll land your canoe right in the heart of town. You'll have two days to explore this gold rush town – from Midnight Dome and the goldfields along Bonanza Creek to an evening at Diamond Tooth Gertie's.

  • Day 10
Dawson City – Gold Rush up close

    Hotel

Today we explore the historic town, drive up to Midnight Dome, Dawson City's iconic mountain, and enjoy a magnificent view over the town and the river we successfully crossed the day before. Then we head straight into the goldfields of Eldorado and Bonanza Creek. Even today, gold is still actively mined here, just as it was over a century ago. We'll visit an active gold mine and try our luck with a gold pan. We'll also visit the Jack London Cabin and the Gold Rush Museum in Dawson. In the evening, we'll meet at Diamond Tooth Gertie's Casino for some gambling and good cheer. Anyone who didn't have any luck panning for gold during the day will get another chance at roulette or card games! Overnight stay at the Dawson City Hotel.

Culture / nature

Pure nature

This canoe trip is designed for beginners – paddling or camping experience is helpful, but not necessary. A normal level of physical fitness and a love of being outdoors are all you need; you'll learn the technique on the first day right by the river.

Over approximately 325 kilometers of river, covered in seven days of paddling, the Yukon's current is a great help – the daily stages are easily manageable. Loading the canoes, setting up tents, and short walks with luggage between the riverbank and the campsite are all part of the experience.

There are no sanitary facilities at the wilderness camp, and the weather can be changeable. Helping with camp and kitchen chores is expected – the team spirit within this all-female group is what makes this trip so special.
