This hiking trip takes you to the mountain and fjord landscape of Northern Norway. Your base is Tromsø, the "Gateway to the Arctic": You'll hike up the local mountain Fløya, climb Guratind near Skulsfjord, and visit the Polar Museum. After a free day, you'll head to the Sommarøy peninsula with its white beaches and turquoise waters, where further excursions await. Optional extras include a Northern Lights safari, a boat trip through the fjords, or a visit to a husky farm. With only two base locations, the trip is designed to be relaxed and enjoyable. In autumn the chances of seeing the Northern Lights are good.

  • Day 2
    Tromsø's local mountain

    Hike up Fløya • Leisure

Dressed in your hiking gear, all hiking enthusiasts can now set off into the breathtaking Norwegian mountain and fjord landscape, which may already be lightly dusted with snow depending on the weather. Before beginning your ascent, make a stop at the Arctic Cathedral. Rising close to the fjord, its unique architecture makes it a true eye-catcher. The next destination is Fløya – Tromsø's local mountain. From there, you can often spot Hurtigruten ships on their way to Tromsø. These are traditional Norwegian postal ships, now combined cargo, passenger, and cruise vessels. Here and there, snow-capped peaks will peek out all the way to the Arctic Ocean. The climb is well worth it: the view over Tromsø and the surrounding fjords and mountains is simply magical (moderate, approx. 10 km, walking time: approx. 4 hours, +/- 600 meters elevation gain/loss). Afterwards, you'll have the opportunity to explore the fascinating city of Tromsø on your own. The botanical garden or the city museum, for example, would be well worth a visit. Or you could visit the Troll Museum and learn about these little creatures and their significance to the region. (F)

  • Day 3
    Hiking & Northern Lights

Skulsfjord • Hike to Guratind • Northern Lights safari (optional)

Today we set off early in the morning towards Skulsfjord, where your hike to Guratind begins. On quiet trails, your group will have the trail to themselves, while you enjoy enchanting views of the sea (challenging, approx. 8 km, approx. 4 hours, +/-400 m elevation gain/loss). Please note: The trail is off the beaten track and is sometimes steep and poorly marked – however, the solitude and the sea views are unbeatable. Those who prefer to hike without the group and are looking for a more relaxed alternative can spend their time on easier trails in the tranquil valley or along the rugged coast with its bays. At the end of the day, a very special highlight awaits: you have the opportunity to book an optional Northern Lights safari and witness the surreal, dreamlike aurora borealis (optional, available from September, €195 per person, please book when registering). The diverse shapes and colors create a unique experience that you won't soon forget. The lights are often visible so close to the Arctic Circle, but there's no guarantee. (F) (Distance: approx. 50 km; Travel time: approx. 1.5 hours)

    Leisure time

Day at leisure • Fjord boat tour or husky farm (optional)

Today you are your own tour guide and can plan your day as you please, alone or in a group. Sommarøy

Hike • Optional afternoon tour • Farewell dinner

The last full day of this magical journey has sadly arrived. This will, of course, be celebrated with one last hike together.
