  • Day 2
    Vilnius – »Jerusalem of the East«

    Hotel Vilnius

Today you'll deepen your understanding of Vilnius, a vibrant mosaic of relics from diverse eras. A stroll through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town will bring together the mysteries of the Middle Ages, Vilnius Baroque, and the treasures of the modern age. The university with its thirteen courtyards, the imposing Presidential Palace, the venerable German Street, the Gate of Dawn, and the colorful Glass District will reveal many secrets of the past. You also can't miss the countless churches, most notably the Gothic ensemble featuring St. Anne's Church on the Vilnia River. Even Napoleon admired it and said he would "carry it to Paris on his hands." In the Užupis artists' quarter, with its own anthem and national border, you'll encounter the city's alternative and modern side. In the afternoon, the Baroque masterpiece, the Church of St. Peter and Paul, with its unique stucco work inside, will captivate you. In a craft brewery, the brewer personally answers all your questions about the brewing process and the history of the small brewery. And it's not just those with a dry throat who can enjoy six different types of beer here. Breakfast, a beer tasting, and dinner are included in the price. Dinner, served in a cozy restaurant in the old town, includes herring with mushroom sauce and Lithuanian black bread as a starter, followed by cepelinai (Lithuanian potato dumplings filled with meat) as the main course. A piece of honey cake will be served to finish. You will stay in the same accommodation as the previous day.

  • Day 3
From Vilnius via the Trakai water castle to the Curonian Lagoon

    Mercure Klaipeda City

    approx. 320 km

The day begins with a highlight: Trakai. This town nestled between three lakes is known for its unspoiled landscapes, nature reserves, forests, and above all, Trakai Island Castle. The only remaining Gothic island castle in Europe sits majestically on an island, and with its gleaming red corner towers, it's arguably the most photographed landmark in the entire Baltic region. Before exploring its impressive interior, admire the structure from a completely different perspective: from a boat during a cruise on Lake Trakai. At midday, you'll be invited to a rural farmstead. Here, you'll experience the warmth and friendliness of the Lithuanian people. Your hostess will guide you through the house and happily share stories from her life. Prepare to be surprised by the delicious meal that awaits you. In the afternoon, Klaipeda welcomes you. Lithuania's only port city and "Gateway to the World" lies at the mouth of the Curonian Lagoon where it meets the Baltic Sea. A short stroll through the narrow streets of the old town will reveal half-timbered houses, old warehouses, and many traces of Germany's past. A popular photo opportunity is the Simon-Dach Fountain with the monument to Ännchen von Tharau in Theaterplatz. Breakfast and lunch on a farm are included. Mercure Klaipeda City: The Mercure Klaipeda City is located in the heart of Klaipeda, near the Sculpture Park, one of the city's most important artistic landmarks. The Curonian Lagoon is a ten-minute walk away, as is the Dane River, which you can cross to reach Klaipeda's Old Town. The hotel is housed in a historic building. Each room is bright and decorated in a modern Nordic style. In the evening, the hotel's own restaurant, Newport, will delight you with local cuisine and fresh fish dishes.

  • Day 4
    Sand dunes, lagoon and sea

    Mercure Klaipeda City

    approx. 100 km

Take the ferry to one of Europe's most fascinating landscapes, the Curonian Spit – a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site in one. This peninsula, stretching almost 100 kilometers into the Baltic Sea, is home to countless sand dunes and bird sanctuaries. Your first stop is the fishing village of Nida, right next to the High Dune. With its unique Curonian pennants, traditional boats, historic cemetery, and Protestant fishermen's church, the village inspired not only Thomas Mann in his summer house but also the French writer Jean-Paul Sartre. Afterward, a roughly one-hour walk takes you through the dunes, culminating in a climb to the Dead Dune. With sand between your toes, enjoy the view of the rolling Baltic Sea and listen to the howling wind. And what would the Baltic Sea be without amber? Visit the Amber Museum, which presents Baltic amber from both artistic and scientific perspectives through interactive exhibits. The museum's central concept is "the Amber Forest and the River," symbolizing amber's journey from nature to culture. During an impressive guided tour, you'll admire Lithuania's largest piece of amber and learn some of the secrets of fishing for this "gold of the Baltic." Then, you'll board a boat and experience a different perspective. For about an hour, you'll cruise along the Curonian Lagoon to the Russian border, admiring the grace and scale of the sand dunes from the water. What a sight! Breakfast and dinner are included. Enjoy a typical finger food dinner in Nida featuring various types of freshly smoked fish. Eat like the locals! Depending on the weather, the boat trip takes place before or after the visit to the Amber Museum. You will stay in the same accommodation as the previous day.

Impressive: Hill of Crosses and Rundale Palace

    Hotel Konventa Seta

    approx. 320 km

Your journey takes you from the Curonian Lagoon to Riga. The first highlight is just around the corner: the Hill of Crosses near Šiauliai. This pilgrimage site has been a symbol of freedom and Lithuanian resistance since the mid-19th century. Today, the hill is covered with thousands of crosses made of various materials, erected by pilgrims from all over the world. Even Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass here and left a cross. After a short drive, you'll find yourself on Latvian soil, admiring the magnificent Rundale Palace, also known as the "Versailles of the Baltics." The former residence of the Duke of Courland, like the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, was designed by the renowned architect Francesco Rastrelli. With its Baroque and Rococo architecture, expansive gardens, and charming sculptures, the palace is one of Latvia's most important architectural monuments and is famous far beyond the borders of the Baltic states. You'll arrive in Riga, the largest city in the Baltics, this evening. Make yourself comfortable in your hotel room and look forward to tomorrow. Let's just say this much: Riga wasn't a European Capital of Culture for nothing. Breakfast is included in the price. For dinner, try pelmeni or auksta zupa, a traditional beetroot soup, at one of the nearby restaurants, followed by Riga Black Balsamic vinegar. Hotel Konventa Seta: The Hotel Konventa Seta is located in the heart of Riga's Old Town (Vecriga). Just a five- to ten-minute walk away, you'll find Riga Cathedral, the Latvian National Opera, the ballet, as well as the city's best concert halls and museums. You'll stay in a spacious, modern room.

  • Day 6
Riga – Latvia's capital and Art Nouveau metropolis

    Hotel Konventa Seta

The cityscape of the former Hanseatic city is defined by its imposing bridges spanning the banks of the Daugava River, its dominant 13th-century towers and churches, and the magnificent facades of its Art Nouveau architecture. A minibus will take you to the wooden house district on the opposite bank of the Daugava. Riga boasts over 2,000 listed wooden houses, creating a striking contrast to the meticulously renovated Art Nouveau buildings and the impressive National Library, nicknamed the "Castle of Light." On the return journey across the Akmen Bridge, we'll enjoy the most breathtaking panoramic views of Riga. We'll explore the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, on foot. The mighty Riga Cathedral, St. Peter's Church with the city's tallest spire, the Powder Tower, the Small and Great Guilds, the imposing Gothic House of the Blackheads, and the Three Brothers complex are just a few of the highlights. The tour concludes at what was once the world's largest Zeppelin hangar. After the war, the buildings were rebuilt and opened as market halls in 1930. Every day, all kinds of food, from meat and vegetables to cheese and bread, are traded here. Enjoy sampling traditional dishes and chatting with some of the vendors. The afternoon is yours to explore at your leisure. Those who wish can visit the Art Nouveau Museum or stroll through the park. Breakfast is included in the price. Also included is a tasting in Riga's market halls, featuring cheese, smoked meats, and freshly baked Latvian black bread. You will stay in the same accommodation as the previous day.

Through the forests of Gauja National Park to Lahemaa National Park

Vihula Manor Country Club & Spa

    approx. 430 km

In the morning, you'll leave Riga and travel to Gauja National Park. You'll explore Latvia's oldest and largest national park, also known as the Latvian Switzerland. It boasts incredible biodiversity and numerous historical and cultural highlights. The park is famous for its abundant forests, interspersed with graceful river landscapes and golden sandstone cliffs. You'll hike for about an hour along the Amata River, with its ancient oak trees and sandstone and dolomite banks rising up to 45 meters high. Afterward, you'll arrive in Cesis, perhaps the most "Latvian" city. Its 800-year history makes it one of the oldest and best-preserved medieval towns in the Baltics. Listen carefully as you stroll through this Hanseatic city. The imposing St. John's Church houses an organ whose sound fills every street. The heart of the city is Cesis Castle. The castle ruins from the Livonian period and the surrounding parks lend this medieval town an almost romantic atmosphere. On a typical farm, the owner will personally show you his impressive property, including a homemade machine for making roof shingles. Afterwards, you'll travel to Estonia to your accommodation in Lahemaa National Park. Breakfast and lunch are included in the price. For lunch, you'll be a guest at a traditional farm. You'll bake rye bread on wooden sticks over a large fire, in typical Latvian style. This will be served with Zipari honey from the farm's own apiary and roasted hazelnuts – a real treat. Vihula Manor Country Club & Spa: Located near the north coast of Estonia, Vihula Manor Country Club & Spa lies within Lahemaa National Park. This 16th-century estate comprises two main houses, 25 other historic buildings, and 50 hectares of verdant parkland along the Mustoja River, perfect for a stroll. A swimming pool and sauna offer relaxation, as does the pampering program at the on-site spa. You will stay in a simple, country-style room.

Tallinn – Medieval and modern in Estonia's capital

    Hotel Metropol

On foot, you'll discover the picture-perfect medieval city of Tallinn. With its impressive city walls and high defensive towers, its helmeted churches, and colorful houses standing so close together they seem to support each other, this former Hanseatic city has retained its charm. The Cathedral and the Tall Hermann Castle tower, two of Tallinn's landmarks, tower above the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On your city tour, you'll admire equally magnificent buildings such as the Kiek-in-de-Kök Powder Tower, Toompea Castle, and the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, as well as Toompea Hill, from which, on a clear day, you can almost see Finland. Look forward to the afternoon, as you'll experience a very special medieval tour of Tallinn. Your local guide will share many stories, and you can even enjoy some street art. To conclude the tour, we'll sample a glass of Klarett at the Raeapteek, the oldest pharmacy in Europe. This apothecary wine has been produced using the same methods since 1467. Besides nature and tradition, Estonia is synonymous with modernity. The Telliskivi district is the model for the new Tallinn. A 20-minute walk or a short taxi ride from the Old Town lies the formerly abandoned industrial area of Telliskivi Creative City. The buildings have been transformed into a thriving creative hub with galleries, shops, restaurants, and music venues. Why not explore it on your own? Breakfast and dinner are included. A three-course meal of modern Estonian cuisine will be served as a farewell dinner. You will stay in the same accommodation as the previous day.
