Overview

In Sardinia's wild east, rugged mountains and the deep blue sea form a spectacular backdrop. On narrow paths you hike along ridges with sweeping views of the Ogliastra coast and the Gulf of Orosei – to coves such as Cala Goloritzè, Cala Mariolu and Cala Luna.

You lace up your hiking boots and set off for the wild east of Sardinia – where rugged mountains and the deep blue sea form a spectacular backdrop. Even after the first few kilometers, you feel the unspoiled nature of this landscape: karst cliffs rise steeply, narrow paths lead you over ridges with sweeping views of glittering bays. Especially around the Gulf of Orosei and along the Ogliastra coast, the island reveals its most dramatic side. Far below, the sea shimmers in turquoise and azure, while eagles and vultures circle overhead. You hike through fragrant maquis shrubland, accompanied by the aroma of rosemary, bay leaves, and wild herbs. Flocks of sheep and donkeys cross your path, and often it is wonderfully quiet – only the wind and the chirping of cicadas can be heard. This journey is both wild and relaxing: wild through the rugged cliffs and scenic high-altitude trails, relaxing thanks to the Sardinians' serenity and their "la dolce far niente" (the sweetness of doing nothing). With each day in your hiking boots, your connection to this multifaceted nature grows – and you take a piece of the Italian way of life home with you.
